Vineyard View

*****Vineyard View*******
Polk County, NC Production Region
Saturday, March 25, 1:00 p.m.

In the past couple of years the N.C. Winegrowers Association coordinating with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service has developed a series of informal "Vineyard View Meetings." The purpose of these meetings is to bring growers, researchers, and potential growers together to discuss current aspects of grape production in North Carolina. A number of such meetings are scheduled during the growing season at various vineyards and wineries around the state. This will give everyone a chance to visit vineyards and wineries nearby, and learn from the experiences and questions of others.

There is no charge for these meetings, but please RSVP to Mark Lancaster at (828) 697-4891 or mark_lancaster@ncsu.edu or Eric Bish at 919-515-3705 or eric_bish@ncsu.edu.

Joe and Jeanie Mize, as well as, other local vineyards will host the first meeting of the season at their vineyards. Varieties include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot. This is a relatively young production area with the bulk of plantings in their second harvest year or younger.

Beginning at the Joe & Jeanie Mize Vineyard, Columbus (Chesnee Highway)
Directions: From Hwy 74 between Tryon/Columbus and Rutherfordton take exit 167 on to Hwy 9 South; go approximately 6 miles, take a left onto the Chesnee Hwy; go approximately 2 miles, take a left onto Blackwood Road at the Vineyard.
